Peshawari Mutton Karahi is a traditional dish from the Muhajir cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This recipe combines tender mutton with a blend of spices, creating a mouthwatering dish that is perfect for special occasions or family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 kg mutton, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup ghee
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a karahi or deep cooking pot.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they change color.
- Stir in ginger paste, garlic paste, and green chilies. Cook for a few minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes, cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
