Phaksha Ko Masu is a traditional Bhutanese style spicy chicken curry that is popular in Sikkimese Cuisine. This flavorful dish is a perfect combination of tender chicken cooked in a rich and aromatic gravy, infused with a blend of traditional spices.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 tomatoes, pureed
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons cumin powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they are slightly browned.
- Stir in the tomato puree, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat until the chicken is tender and the gravy thickens.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
