Phaksha Momos (bhutanese Style Chicken Dumplings)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Water for dough

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, chili powder, and salt to make the filling.
  2. For the dough, mix the all-purpose flour with water to form a smooth dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
  4. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle.
  5. Fold the edges of the circle to form a half-moon shape, sealing the edges tightly.
  6. Steam the momos for 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
  7. Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
