Phaksha Momos (bhutanese Style Chicken Dumplings)
Phaksha Momos are traditional Bhutanese style chicken dumplings that are popular in Sikkimese Cuisine. These delicious dumplings are filled with flavorful chicken and wrapped in a delicate dough, then steamed to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Water for dough
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, chili powder, and salt to make the filling.
- For the dough, mix the all-purpose flour with water to form a smooth dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out into thin circles.
- Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold the edges of the circle to form a half-moon shape, sealing the edges tightly.
- Steam the momos for 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked through.
- Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
