Piaya
Piaya is a sweet and flaky Filipino pastry that is perfect for snacking or dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the flour and brown sugar.
- Add the sesame seeds, melted butter, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and flatten each portion into a thin circle.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook each piaya for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and flaky.
- Remove from the skillet and let cool before serving.
