Pide (kajo-keji Kebab Pizza)
Pide, also known as Kajo-Keji Kebab Pizza, is a popular dish in South Sudanese cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic pizza is a fusion of Turkish and South Sudanese flavors, featuring a crispy crust topped with spiced kebab meat and fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough into a large oval or rectangle shape.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Evenly spread the meat mixture over the tomato sauce.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top of the meat.
- Arrange the sliced tomato and green pepper on the pizza.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Sprinkle the chopped parsley over the hot pizza before serving.
