Pikegtaq, or dried fish pizza, is a traditional Yup'ik dish that combines the flavors of dried fish with a crispy crust and savory toppings. This unique pizza is a delicious way to experience the flavors of Yup'ik cuisine.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried fish, shredded
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the water and knead the dough until smooth.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.
- Place the dough on a pizza pan or baking sheet.
- Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded dried fish, mozzarella cheese, red onion, bell pepper, and black olives on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, slice, and serve hot.
