Ingredients
- 500g fish fillets, cut into chunks
- 3 shallots, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 3 red chilies, sliced
- 2 stalks lemongrass, bruised
- 3 kaffir lime leaves
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- In a large pot, sauté the shallots and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the fish, tomatoes, red chilies, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Dissolve the tamarind paste in water and pour it into the pot.
- Season with turmeric, salt, and sugar. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
