पिठला (Pithla) is a traditional Maharashtrian dish made with gram flour and spices. It is a quick and easy recipe that is perfect for a simple and comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix gram flour, turmeric powder, and salt. Gradually add water to make a smooth batter.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped green chilies and minced garlic. Sauté for a minute.
  3. Add chopped onions and cook until they turn translucent.
  4. Pour the gram flour batter into the pan and stir continuously to avoid lumps.
  5. Cook for 8-10 minutes on medium heat until the mixture thickens and the raw smell of gram flour disappears.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with bhakri or steamed rice.
