Pizza delle Tre Vette, or Three Peaks Pizza, is a traditional dish from San Marino, a small country in the Apennine Mountains. This hearty pizza is named after the three peaks of Monte Titano, the country's most iconic landmark.
Ingredients
- 500g pizza dough
- 200g San Marzano tomato sauce
- 200g mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 100g prosciutto, thinly sliced
- 50g grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Divide the pizza dough into two equal portions and shape each into a round pizza crust.
- Spread the San Marzano tomato sauce evenly over the pizza crusts.
- Top the pizzas with the mozzarella cheese and prosciutto.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese over the pizzas and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizzas from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
- Slice and serve hot.
