Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 leeks, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
- Evenly distribute half of the sliced leeks over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the grated Gruyère cheese on top of the leeks.
- Dot the layers with half of the butter, then pour half of the heavy cream over the top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, leeks, cheese, butter, and cream.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving.
