Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea leaves
  • 1/2 cup yak butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of loose black tea leaves to the boiling water and let it steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Strain the tea into a separate container and discard the tea leaves.
  4. Return the strained tea to the pot and place it over medium heat.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of yak butter, 1/2 cup of whole milk, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the tea.
  6. Whisk the mixture vigorously until the butter is fully melted and the tea becomes frothy.
  7. Pour the butter tea into cups and serve hot.
