Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup polenta
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Gradually whisk in the polenta and salt. Reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, for 15-20 minutes or until the polenta is thick and creamy.
- Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
