- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it stand for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, then place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch the dough down, then knead in the raisins. Shape the dough into a babka and place it in a greased babka pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
