Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 kg fresh plums, pitted and halved
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat the egg and vanilla extract together, then add to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Press the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Arrange the plum halves over the dough, then sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the plums are tender.
- Allow the cake to cool before serving.
