Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, sour cream, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  2. On a floured surface, knead the dough until smooth. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the farmer's cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to make the filling.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut it into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass. Place a spoonful of the cheese filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the pierogi in batches for 3-4 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and let them drain.
  6. Serve the pierogi warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar or with a dollop of sour cream.
