Pollo A La Naranja Cubano (cuban Orange Chicken)
Pollo a la Naranja Cubano, or Cuban Orange Chicken, is a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of the Caribbean and Chinese cuisine. This recipe features tender chicken pieces marinated in a zesty orange sauce, creating a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup orange juice
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from the marinade, reserving the marinade, and season with salt and pepper. Cook the chicken until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate. In the same skillet, pour in the reserved marinade and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat with the orange sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is heated through and the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the Pollo a la Naranja Cubano over steamed rice and garnish with sliced green onions, if desired.
