Pom (pom Fritters)
Pom, also known as Pomtayer, is a traditional Surinamese dish made with taro root. One popular way to prepare pom is by making Pom Fritters, which are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Ingredients
- 2 cups grated taro root
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the grated taro root, chopped onion, minced garlic, flour, eggs, and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Scoop the taro mixture into the hot oil, forming small fritters, and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Pom Fritters hot and crispy.
