Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) chicken or beef, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup (240ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
  • Skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, garlic, coriander, cumin, turmeric, white pepper, and vegetable oil.
  2. Add the chicken or beef cubes to the marinade and let it sit for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Thread the marinated meat onto the soaked skewers.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and grill the skewers for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Ponorogo Satay with peanut sauce and steamed rice.
