Pork Pie Magic

Pork Pie Magic is a classic English dish that combines savory pork, flavorful seasonings, and a flaky pastry crust. This recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner or a special occasion.

Pork Pie Magic

Ingredients

  • 500g pork mince
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 375g ready-made shortcrust pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pork mince, chopped onion, dried sage, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Roll out two-thirds of the pastry and use it to line a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Spoon the pork mixture into the pastry-lined dish.
  5. Roll out the remaining pastry to make the pie lid. Place it over the filling, press the edges to seal, and trim off any excess pastry.
  6. Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg wash.
  7. Make a small hole in the center of the pie to allow steam to escape during baking.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the filling is cooked through.
  9. Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
