Pork Pie Magic
Pork Pie Magic is a classic English dish that combines savory pork, flavorful seasonings, and a flaky pastry crust. This recipe is perfect for a cozy dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g pork mince
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 375g ready-made shortcrust pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large bowl, mix together the pork mince, chopped onion, dried sage, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Roll out two-thirds of the pastry and use it to line a 9-inch pie dish.
- Spoon the pork mixture into the pastry-lined dish.
- Roll out the remaining pastry to make the pie lid. Place it over the filling, press the edges to seal, and trim off any excess pastry.
- Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg wash.
- Make a small hole in the center of the pie to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the filling is cooked through.
- Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
