Porridge Pastry (zhal Samsa)

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500g puff pastry dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry dough and cut it into 6 equal squares.
  3. Place a generous amount of the meat filling in the center of each pastry square.
  4. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg, then fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal.
  5. Place the pastries on a baking sheet, brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the pastries cool for a few minutes before serving.
