Portuguese Sausage (alheira)
Portuguese Sausage, also known as Alheira, is a traditional sausage from Portugal that is full of flavor and perfect for a variety of dishes.
Ingredients
- 4 links of Portuguese sausage (Alheira)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the diced red bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the casing from the Portuguese sausage and crumble the meat into the skillet.
- Cook the sausage, stirring occasionally, until it is fully cooked and browned.
- Sprinkle the paprika over the sausage and vegetables, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
