Potato And Peas Curry (aloo Matar)

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add ginger paste and green chili. Sauté for a minute.
  2. Add the cubed potatoes and peas. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let the curry simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with roti or rice.
