Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups grated Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the grated Gruyère cheese, heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese and cream mixture over the potatoes.
  4. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese mixture. Dot the top with diced butter.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
