Potato Quiche (gromperenzquiche)
Potato Quiche, known as Gromperenzquiche in Luxembourg, is a delicious savory pie that combines the earthy flavor of potatoes with the richness of eggs and cream. This traditional dish is perfect for brunch, lunch, or a light dinner.
Ingredients
- 500g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 200g bacon, diced
- 200g Gruyère cheese, grated
- 4 eggs
- 200ml heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Place the sliced potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, cook the bacon and onion until the bacon is crispy and the onion is soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the sliced potatoes, bacon-onion mixture, and grated Gruyère cheese in a greased pie dish.
- Pour the egg mixture over the layers in the pie dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown.
- Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
