Potato Quiche (gromperenzquiche)

Ingredients

  • 500g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 200g bacon, diced
  • 200g Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 4 eggs
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Place the sliced potatoes in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, cook the bacon and onion until the bacon is crispy and the onion is soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer the sliced potatoes, bacon-onion mixture, and grated Gruyère cheese in a greased pie dish.
  6. Pour the egg mixture over the layers in the pie dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown.
  8. Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
