Prague Castle Apple and Walnut Strudel (Pražský hrad jablečno-vlašský závin)

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 8 sheets phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples, walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Repeat with the remaining sheets, stacking them on top of each other.
  4. Sprinkle the stacked phyllo dough with bread crumbs.
  5. Spread the apple and walnut mixture along one edge of the phyllo dough.
  6. Roll the phyllo dough and tuck in the edges to seal the filling inside.
