Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pound plums, pitted and sliced
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water and oil, and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough on a floured surface until very thin.
- Sprinkle the rolled-out dough with bread crumbs, then drizzle with half of the melted butter.
- In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the dough.
- Arrange the sliced plums on top of the sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough into a log, tucking in the edges as you go. Place the strudel on a baking sheet and brush with the remaining melted butter.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown and crispy.
- Let the strudel cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
