Prawn Caldine
Prawn Caldine is a traditional Goan Catholic dish that features succulent prawns in a flavorful coconut milk-based curry. This dish is a perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and creamy flavors, making it a favorite in Goan cuisine.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the turmeric and red chili powder, and sauté for a minute.
- Add the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
- Pour in the coconut milk, tamarind paste, and salt. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
