Prawn Fritters (prawn Koliwada)
Prawn fritters, also known as Prawn Koliwada, are a popular appetizer in Mangalurean Catholic Cuisine. These crispy and flavorful fritters are perfect for serving at parties or as a teatime snack.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix chickpea flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, rice flour, and salt.
- Add a little water at a time to make a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Dip each prawn into the batter and carefully drop it into the hot oil.
- Fry until the prawns are golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
