Prawn Ghee Roast
Prawn Ghee Roast is a classic dish from the Mangalurean Catholic Cuisine, known for its rich and spicy flavors. This dish is a perfect blend of succulent prawns and aromatic spices, cooked in ghee to perfection.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 3 tbsp ghee
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 6-8 dried red chilies
- 1 inch ginger, chopped
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan and roast the cumin seeds, coriander seeds, dried red chilies, ginger, and garlic until fragrant. Let it cool and grind to a fine paste.
- Heat the remaining ghee in a pan and add the ground paste. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the marinated prawns, tamarind paste, and red chili powder. Cook until the prawns are done and the masala coats the prawns well.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or neer dosa.
