Prawn Masala
Prawn Masala is a classic dish from Mangalurean Catholic Cuisine, known for its rich and flavorful spices. This dish is a perfect combination of succulent prawns and aromatic masala, making it a favorite among seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the grated ginger and minced garlic, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the turmeric, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for a minute.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add the cleaned prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
