Prawn Masala (royyala Iguru)
Prawn Masala, also known as Royyala Iguru, is a flavorful and spicy dish from the Telugu Cuisine. This dish is made with succulent prawns cooked in a rich and aromatic masala, perfect to be enjoyed with steamed rice or roti.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Now, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
