Prawn Peri Peri Skewers (Espetadas de Camarão Peri Peri)
Espetadas de Camarão Peri Peri, or Prawn Peri Peri Skewers, are a popular dish in Mozambican cuisine. These flavorful skewers are perfect for grilling and are a great addition to any barbecue or gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 kg large prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup peri peri sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the peri peri sauce, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the prawns to the bowl and toss to coat them evenly with the marinade. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
- Thread the marinated prawns onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with lemon wedges.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
- Grill the prawn skewers for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
- Remove from the grill and serve hot with extra peri peri sauce on the side.
