Prawn Thoran (Stir-Fried Prawns)
Stir-Fried Prawns, also known as Prawn Thoran, is a popular dish from the Kerala Cuisine. This recipe combines the flavors of fresh prawns with aromatic spices and coconut, creating a delicious and nutritious dish.
Ingredients
- 500g fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Instructions
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onion and green chilies, sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cleaned prawns and cook for 3-4 minutes until they turn pink.
- Add grated coconut and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
