Prawn Tikki (goan Style Prawn Cutlet)

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, coarsely grind the prawns.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground prawns, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander leaves, and salt.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis/cutlets.
  4. Dip each tikki into the beaten eggs and then coat with bread crumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the tikkis until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove onto a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
