Prawn Tikki (goan Style Prawn Cutlet)
Prawn Tikki, also known as Goan Style Prawn Cutlet, is a popular appetizer in Goan cuisine. These crispy and flavorful prawn cutlets are perfect for serving at parties or as a teatime snack.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a food processor, coarsely grind the prawns.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground prawns, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander leaves, and salt.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis/cutlets.
- Dip each tikki into the beaten eggs and then coat with bread crumbs.
- Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the tikkis until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove onto a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
