Prehistoric Peking Duck
Transport yourself back to the Devonian era with this Prehistoric Peking Duck recipe! This ancient dish is sure to impress your fellow dinosaurs with its flavorful and succulent taste.
Ingredients
- 1 whole duck
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 8 small cucumbers, cut into matchsticks
- 16 small pancakes, to serve
Instructions
- Preheat the open fire pit.
- In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and Chinese five-spice powder.
- Season the duck with salt, then brush the honey mixture all over the duck.
- Place the duck on a roasting rack and cook over the open fire pit for 2 hours, basting with the honey mixture every 30 minutes.
- Once the duck is cooked, remove from the fire and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Serve the carved duck with green onions, cucumbers, and pancakes.
