Primorska Peka (coastal Peka)
Primorska peka, or Coastal Peka, is a traditional Croatian dish that is slow-cooked to perfection. This flavorful one-pot meal is a staple in the coastal regions of Croatia, where it is often prepared for special occasions and family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 kg mixed seafood (mussels, shrimp, squid)
- 4 potatoes, sliced
- 2 onions, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Layer the sliced potatoes, onions, garlic, bell peppers, and tomatoes in a large roasting pan.
- Arrange the mixed seafood on top of the vegetables.
- Drizzle the white wine and olive oil over the seafood and vegetables.
- Sprinkle the dried oregano, salt, and pepper over the entire dish.
- Cover the roasting pan with a lid or aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours, or until the seafood is cooked through and the potatoes are tender.
