Puffed Rice Lemon Rice, also known as Tangy Nargis Chitranna, is a popular dish from the Uttara Karnataka Cuisine. This tangy and flavorful rice dish is perfect for a quick and delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups puffed rice
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
- 1 teaspoon chana dal (split chickpeas)
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add urad dal and chana dal. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add green chilies and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute.
- Reduce the heat and add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
- Add the puffed rice and mix gently to coat the rice with the spices.
- Turn off the heat and add lemon juice. Mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
