Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet, cover, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Slash the top of the loaf with a sharp knife and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
