Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet, cover, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Slash the top of the loaf with a sharp knife and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
