Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, parsley, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides as you go.
- In a large pot, spread a layer of tomato sauce. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the pot. Pour the remaining tomato sauce and beef broth over the rolls.
- Cover and simmer over low heat for 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
