Pulut Panggang (sweet And Sticky Rice Dumplings)
Pulut Panggang is a traditional Indonesian dessert made from sweet and sticky rice dumplings. This delicious treat is popular in Palembang, a city located on the eastern coast of Sumatra.
Ingredients
- 2 cups glutinous rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup palm sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Banana leaves, for wrapping
Instructions
- Soak the glutinous rice in water for 4 hours, then drain.
- In a pot, combine the drained rice, coconut milk, palm sugar, and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and the rice is cooked.
- Cut the banana leaves into small squares and briefly pass them over an open flame to soften them.
- Place a spoonful of the rice mixture onto a piece of banana leaf and shape it into a small dumpling. Wrap the dumpling with the banana leaf and secure with a toothpick.
- Grill the wrapped dumplings over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the banana leaves are slightly charred.
- Remove the banana leaves before serving.
