Pumpkin Pie, known as "Plăcintă cu dovleac" in Moldovan cuisine, is a delicious traditional dessert that is perfect for the fall season. This recipe combines the sweetness of pumpkin with warm spices, all wrapped in a flaky pastry crust.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mashed pumpkin
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 9-inch unbaked pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the mashed pumpkin, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
- Beat in the eggs and stir in the milk until everything is well combined.
- Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Allow the pie to cool before serving.
