Purple Corn Drink (chicha Morada)
Chicha Morada is a traditional Peruvian drink made from purple corn. It is a refreshing and flavorful beverage that is perfect for hot summer days.
Ingredients
- 6 ears of purple corn, husked and kernels removed
- 1 large pineapple, peeled and chopped
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cloves
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of lime juice
- 8 cups of water
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the purple corn kernels, pineapple, cinnamon stick, cloves, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Strain the liquid into a pitcher and discard the solids.
- Stir in the sugar and lime juice until the sugar is dissolved.
- Refrigerate the chicha morada until it is chilled.
- Serve the chicha morada over ice and enjoy!
