Ingredients

  • 6 cups (1.5 liters) water
  • 4 ounces (115g) beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add the beef, onion, and soy sauce to the pot. Simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Add the rice cakes and red pepper flakes to the pot. Cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sesame oil and salt to taste.
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
