Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for a minute.
  4. Add the ground lamb and cook until it is browned and cooked through.
  5. Now, add the chopped tomatoes, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the oil separates.
  6. Add the diced potatoes and mix well with the lamb and spices.
  7. Pour in 1 cup of water, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and give it a final stir.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
