Qeema Chops (iraqi Style Lamb Chops)

Ingredients

  • 8 lamb chops
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the lamb chops with salt, pepper, and half of the ground cumin, coriander, cinnamon, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the lamb chops and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the chops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic, diced tomatoes, and the remaining spices. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Return the lamb chops to the skillet and spoon the tomato mixture over them. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the lamb chops are cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
