Qeema Chops (iraqi Style Lamb Chops)
Qeema Chops, also known as Iraqi Style Lamb Chops, are a delicious and aromatic dish that is popular in Iraqi cuisine. The combination of spices and tender lamb chops makes this dish a true delight for the senses.
Ingredients
- 8 lamb chops
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Season the lamb chops with salt, pepper, and half of the ground cumin, coriander, cinnamon, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Let them marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the lamb chops and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the chops from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic, diced tomatoes, and the remaining spices. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Return the lamb chops to the skillet and spoon the tomato mixture over them. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the lamb chops are cooked to your desired doneness.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
