Qeema Sbanikh (iraqi Lamb And Spinach Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 500g fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, brown the ground lamb over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is soft.
  3. Stir in the ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped spinach and water to the pan. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Uncover and cook for an additional 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve the Qeema Sbanikh hot with rice or bread.
