Qing Cai Hong Shao Dou Fu (braised Tofu With Vegetables)

Ingredients

  • 1 block firm tofu, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1 cup sliced snow peas
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the carrots, bell peppers, and snow peas to the skillet. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
  4. Return the tofu to the skillet and add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and vegetable broth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until the tofu and vegetables are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve the Qing Cai Hong Shao Dou Fu hot with steamed rice.
