Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Warm water, as needed

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Add the yogurt, milk, and ghee. Mix well.
  3. Slowly add warm water and knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rest for 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into balls.
  6. Roll out each ball into a circle or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Heat a non-stick skillet or tava over medium heat.
  8. Place the rolled naan on the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown spots appear.
  9. Brush with ghee or butter before serving.
