Rakott Krumpli, also known as Hungarian Potato Casserole, is a classic Hungarian dish that features layers of sliced potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, sausage, and sour cream, baked to golden perfection. This hearty and comforting casserole is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 6 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 1/2 lb Hungarian sausage, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil the sliced potatoes in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain and let cool.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Top with half of the sliced hard-boiled eggs and half of the sliced Hungarian sausage.
- Spread half of the sour cream over the sausage and eggs, then sprinkle with half of the grated cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
