Rapa Nui Gyoza

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground fish
  • 1 cup finely chopped taro root
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 24 gyoza wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground fish, taro root, onion, garlic, ginger, cilantro, soy sauce, and salt.
  2. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of a gyoza wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper in half, and pleat the edges to seal.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the gyoza in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown.
  4. Pour in the water, cover, and steam the gyoza for 5 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.
  5. Serve the Rapa Nui Gyoza hot, with your choice of dipping sauce.
